Heat-Resistant Acrylic Roof Coating Built for Long-Term Protection

Heat-Resistant Acrylic Roof Coating Built for Long-Term Protection

QUIK-SHIELD® 1929R is a high-solids, heat-resistant, water-based elastomeric roof coating made from 100% acrylic polymers. It is designed to help protect roofing systems from degradation caused by normal weathering, aging, and ultraviolet exposure.

Why QUIK-SHIELD® 1929R

  • Durable Roof Protection
QUIK-SHIELD® 1929R helps defend roofing surfaces against everyday environmental stress, including sunlight, weathering, and age-related wear. Its elastomeric acrylic chemistry is formulated to support long-term roof performance.
  • Flexible, High-Solids Formulation
This coating combines a 65% solids by weight formulation with strong elongation properties, helping it perform across changing roof conditions and temperature swings. Lab values show elongation at break of 255% at 0°F and 200% at 75°F.
  • Application Flexibility
QUIK-SHIELD® 1929R can be applied by brush, roller, or airless sprayer, making it a practical fit for a range of field conditions and project requirements.
  • Roofing-System Compatibility
Recommended substrates include spray foam, metal, concrete, and certain previously applied foam or polymer surfaces when adhesion and compatibility have been verified.

Application Conditions:

QUIK-SHIELD® 1929R should be applied to clean, properly prepared surfaces. Recommended ambient and substrate temperatures are 50°F to 130°F. Before full application, material should be tested to confirm that it sprays, cures, and hardens properly. Additional coats should be applied only after a minimum cure time of 4 to 6 hours.

For spray application, SWD recommends a high-pressure airless sprayer with:

  • Minimum 1000 psi
  • No filter
  • 3/8” minimum spray line
  • Tip size 619–645

Proper application settings remain the responsibility of the end user.

Surface Preparation:

Proper substrate preparation is critical to coating performance. Surfaces should be free of dust, dirt, oil, paint, and other contaminants before application. Specific preparation guidance includes:

  • Spray Foam: Apply coating 2–24 hours after foam installation when possible
  • Steel & Other Metals: Surface should be free of rust, scale, dirt, grease, oil, chalking, paint, and contaminants
  • Concrete: Surface should be fully cured, structurally sound, clean, and dry
  • Previously Applied Foam or Other Polymers: Existing materials should be removed where practical, or compatibility must be verified before coating over them

Storage & Shelf Life:

QUIK-SHIELD® 1929R should be stored between 50°F and 100°F (10–38°C) in tightly sealed containers, out of direct sunlight, in a cool, dry place. Freezing should be avoided. Unopened containers have a published shelf life of 18 months from date of manufacture.
