High-Performance Closed-Cell Spray Foam with Maximum Code Flexibility

Built for Demanding Assemblies. Engineered to Check Every Box.

QUIK-SHIELD® HYDRA XC is a 2.0 lb/ft3 HFO-blown closed-cell spray foam designed for projects where performance, compliance, and versatility all matter. Delivering an R-value of 7.5 per inch, HYDRA XC functions as insulation, air barrier, vapor retarder, and water-resistive barrier—all in one system.

With broad code approvals and tested assemblies that allow use without traditional ignition or thermal barriers in specific conditions, HYDRA XC gives contractors and designers more flexibility in how—and where—it’s used. It sprays consistently, builds thickness efficiently, and performs across a wide range of residential and commercial applications.

Why QUIK-SHIELD® HYDRA XC:

  • Serious Performance, One System
Combines high R-value, air-impermeability, and vapor control to simplify wall, roof, and enclosure designs.
  • Low GWP, Modern Chemistry
Uses Honeywell’s Solstice® liquid blowing agent, with a GWP of 1, which meets current and future low-GWP requirements.
  • Tested for Code Flexibility
    Approved for use as:

    • Air-impermeable insulation
    • Class II vapor retarder (≥1.82″)
    • Water-resistive barrier (≥1.3″ continuous)
    • Alternative to ignition and thermal barriers in specific assemblies
  • Built for Real-World Jobsites Predictable spray behavior, strong adhesion, and efficient lift capability help crews move faster with fewer corrections.

Application Conditions:

Apply QUIK-SHIELD® HYDRA XC using high-pressure plural-component spray equipment with a minimum 1100 psi dynamic pressure. It can be installed in lifts up to 4 inches per pass, allowing full system thickness to be achieved efficiently.

  • Precondition material to 60–80°F
  • Typical hose and heater settings: 105–145°F (adjust for season and substrate)
  • Substrate temperatures: 10–120°F
  • Do not spray when the substrate is less than 5°F above the dew point.
  • Allow proper cooling time between lifts.

Always follow SWD’s published processing guidelines, substrate prep requirements, and ventilation protocols.

Where It Works:

  • Residential and commercial wall assemblies

  • Unvented attics and roof decks

  • Crawl spaces and basements

  • Exterior walls requiring air, vapor, and water control

QUIK-SHIELD® HYDRA XC gives builders and installers a single solution that handles insulation, air sealing, and moisture control, all without adding unnecessary layers or labor.
